.....A) Your application will not be processed unless it has been paid. In this case you must go back on-line and fill in another application form and pay with a credit card when requested to do so. Your first application will automatically be cancelled.
Q) I do not have a credit card. What should I do?
A) You do not have to pay with a card in your name; another person may pay for you.
Q) I've filled in my application form on-line and got a reference number. What else do I need to do?
A) The fact that you've filled in the form doesn't mean you have submitted your application. First you have to print out the form and sign it. At this point you will receive an automated e-mail advising you of all the documents you must provide with your application. You must then either make an appointment for an interview, in which case you must bring the form and all supporting documents to the interview with you or send your complete application including your passport to us by registered post.
Q) Does my Schengen visa cover my trip to the UK?
A) No, the UK is not signatory to the Schengen Treaty and you therefore need a UK visa if you are visiting the UK.

Q) How long will it take to get my visa?
A) If you make an appointment for an interview at the Visa Section in Geneva your application will usually be dealt with there and then and be posted to you the same day. However our appointment system is generally fully booked at least 4 weeks in advance. If you choose to send in a postal application we usually process applications within 5 working days from the date of receipt of a complete application. However, at busy times of the year, applications could take longer.
Q) Can I change the date of my appointment?
A) Yes - just go back to the appointment system, cancel your existing appointment and make a new one.
Q) Is it OK to make an appointment as well as sending in a postal application?
A) No - this will slow down the process for you as well as for others. You should either make an appointment for a personal interview, or send in your documents and application form by post.
Q) Is it safe to send my passport through the post?
A) Yes, providing you use recorded delivery. You can then track the whereabouts of your packet.
Q) My permit is due to expire in the next 3 months. Can I still apply?
A) Yes - but we will need to see proof that you have applied for an extension of your permit.
Q) What does my child need to go on a school trip to the UK?

Q) I want to do a work placement in the UK. What do I need to do?
A) Please see guidance on work placements. In the majority of cases you will need a work permit to carry out a work placement in the UK.
